YouTube Evidence Notes · Public Beta
Privacy Policy
Evidence Notes and their source details are stored locally in Chrome. This version sends no usage statistics and uses no remote analytics service.
Last updated: October 10, 2026
What the extension handles locally
On a supported YouTube watch page, the extension reads transcript lines already provided by YouTube and the current video's title, channel, URL, and timestamps. Saved Evidence Notes contain the selected quote, source details, timestamp, caption type, language, and any note you write. These records are stored locally in chrome.storage.local on your device.
Local Beta diagnostics contain feature counts and recent diagnostic events. They may include a video ID. These diagnostics stay on your device and are not sent to us or to a remote analytics provider.
No remote analytics
This release does not send product analytics, create an anonymous analytics install ID, or upload a pending analytics queue. Transcript text, saved quotes, private notes, search terms, video URLs, video IDs, titles, channels, and browsing history are never sent to us as usage data.
The extension reads the YouTube page you have opened. YouTube continues to process requests under its own privacy policy. Opening the public support website or GitHub Issues uses those services under their own policies.
Retention and deletion
Evidence Notes and local diagnostics remain on this device until cleared or the extension is uninstalled. Use Clear all to remove saved Evidence Notes; uninstalling the extension removes its local Chrome storage. We hold no remote usage data from this release, so no analytics deletion request is needed.
Feedback and support
Feedback is voluntary. Use the Feedback and support page to open a public GitHub Issue. GitHub requires an account to submit an issue, although this support page is accessible without signing in. Issues are public: do not include transcript text, saved quotes, private notes, video URLs, browsing history, or other sensitive information. We use submitted workflow feedback to respond to support requests and improve the extension.
Security and changes
Executable extension logic is packaged with the extension. The extension does not download or execute remote code. Any future analytics feature will require updated disclosures and an explicit choice before collection begins.
